PREHISTORIC PARK
DVD (2 disc set)
Imagine visiting an open range zoo/wildlife park full of prehistoric beasts? It's the dream promised, but unfulfilled, by Steven Spielberg's Jurassic Park, thanks to human greed and, er, unpredictable wild beasts.
But this TV series, recently screened on the Nine Network in Australia, tackles the same kind of project from a different perspective.
Using the ground-breaking special effects technology of Walking with Dinosaurs, Prehistoric Park depicts host Nigel Marven travelling back in time to rescue prehistoric reptiles, mammals and insects from extinction.
Right from episode one, Marven and his support team tackle the task head-one, with one of their first targets being the king of carnivores, Tyrannosaurus Rex.
Just how do you coax a rampaging flesh-eating giant beast to follow you back in time? That's where the fun begins for the Prehistoric Park team.
Set against some stunning scenery, while the cast toil to construct dinosaur proof pens, Prehistoric Park does an excellent job of bringing the past to life. You'll almost believe it's real.
What price an admission ticket, I wonder?
