Agatha Christie's Poirot
DEATH ON THE NILE
A cruise on Egypt's famous River Nile is enough to wet the appetite of any traveller, despite not having the excitement and mystery as portrayed in this Agatha Christie tale.
The man who has made the role of Christie's Belgian sleuth Hercule Poirot his own, David Suchet, is in top form for this high quality made-for-tv production.
Further more he is well supported by James Fox as Colonel Race, Emma Martin, Daisy Donovan, David Soul, Alastair (Monarch of the Glen) McGregor, Judy Parfitt, J.J. Field, Frances de la Tour and a number of other familiar faces.
The well-known plot involves the death - obviously the murder - of recently married heiress, Linnet Doyle - nee Ridgeway.
As the death has occured during a cruise on the Nile, the company's representatives call for the assistance of one of the passengers, Hercule Poirot, to conduct the initial investigation.
Typically, several of the people on the cruise have a motive of their own to have carried out the crime.
However, as Colonel Race says to his longtime friend, Hercule Poirot .. "we'll get the the bottom of it." To which Poirot's reply is .. "Oh, I know I will."
A beautifully crafted production that delivers a thoroughly entertaining movie-length feature.
