MIDDLE EAST
This is a 2-disk DVD set of Pilot Guides on countries of the Middle East, as shown on ABC-TV in Australia. These beautifully filmed and intelligently narrated documentaries contain three programs, a Special: Short History of the Middle East, and a host of additional features that provide useful information for travellers.
Presenter Justine Shapiro visits Israel and the Sinai, travelling from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, where she spends the night in a stable, and then on to Mount Sinai with visits to Masada and the Dead Sea.
The second program features the dramatic and legendary landscapes of Syria, Lebanon & Jordan. Presenter Ian Wright starts out in Wadi Rum, explores the rose red city of Petra, continues on to the Dead Sea, and to Damascus, Palmyra and Aleppo.
The final program has Megan McCormick in troubled Kuwait before heading to oil rich and tourist friendly Dubai and finally Oman on the Arabian Gulf.
Pilot Guides Middle East is an informative, educational and entertaining set of travel DVDs which manages to squeeze in many of the region's highlights: geographical, historical and cultural.
